It's official, the GOP is dead from a thousand (self inflicted) cuts

Here's the latest example that there is absolutely no difference between the two major political parties.

The budget sequester actually held spending on some items to certain levels.  Now the GOP led the effort to cut the cuts.  In other words, increase spending.

We Give Up! Part 2: Republicans Cave On Budget, Debt Limit, Everything

So there really is no difference between the parties.  Of course, our so called Representative Bill Johnson voted for this massive spending increase.

Previous posts on Congressman Bill Johnson:

Another item that proves to me that the GOP is brain dead is the cuts to military retirements.  The one group that actually supports the GOP consistently and in large percentages!

This is a dumb idea not because it's a bad thing to cut spending.  However, this is a broken promise and these folks have already served and were told this is what the pay would be .  If you want to make a change like this, do it with people that are enlisting today, so they will know what to expect in the future, then they can have good information for their decision.  Making this type of cut after folks are getting ready to retire or are actually already retired is wrong.

Cutting 1% of a person's retirement is huge.  It depends on how long you are retired as to the amount of loss.  30 years = 30%

Of course this is based on a retirement who's cost of living adjustments are based on the government's reported inflation numbers.....which are a lie.

So now, with the help of Congressman Bill Johnson, we have cut their already promised retirement pay and on the other end, use fraudulent inflation numbers to keep cost of living increased below the real inflation rate, another cut.

But we can now increase spending on other vote buying schemes on the back of military retirees.

So now do you understand when I say the GOP is brain dead?  They cut retirement funding for one group of their strongest supporters so the democrats can increase spending for their government leaches / parasites groups.

Looks like Bob Taft's GOP is back!

It looks like the Ohio GOP is going to enable a tax hike.

They can say what they want, it is a tax hike and it will be the GOP that enables it.

Previous post

I'm beginning to think I'd like to see the GOP start a used car lot, because they are limp wrist-ed negotiators.

Just received a fund raising letter for the House GOP leader bragging about all the House Republicans voting against this tax hike.....yet it's the GOP (this time in the Senate) that will provide the votes to do the tax raising.

This would have been the perfect time to really differentiate the parties.

Here's who runs Ohio: Librarians, Teacher's Unions and Job and Family Services.

I'm too mad to keep typing. Looks like Bob Taft's GOP is back after all.

Sweet gun

If you are thinking about buying your son or grandson a pistol (if not you should be, unless you actually want to raise a pansy democrat), here's the perfect .22 caliber pistol.

Walther also makes a gun almost identical to this except in the .380 caliber, making it almost suitable for a concealed carry gun.

I can attest to the fact that this gun (P22) is very reliable and accurate. You can ask one of the squirrels in my freezer.

Swine flu is Obama's fault

Remember when the democrats and the media tried to blame the lack of flu vaccines on G. W. Bush in 2004?

One example here.

Why aren't they blaming obama for the current flu "epidemic"?

Now it's just a "limited supply".

State's unemployment rate rises to 11.2%

Ohio democrat governors are disasters....even more so than Taft......

Our last dem governor (Celeste) had an unemployment rate of 14.2 and our current dem governor (Strickland) is at 11.2%

COLUMBUS -- Ohio's unemployment rate ticked up a notch to 11.2 percent in July, another level not seen for more than a quarter century.

Last month's rate was up from June's 11.1 percent and was 4.5 percentage points higher than the July 2008 rate of 6.7 percent.

Spokesman Brian Harter with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says the last time the state had unemployment of 11.2 percent was in August 1983.

Fannie, Freddie asked to relax condo loan rules

Reuters "story".

"Two U.S. Democratic lawmakers want Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to relax recently tightened standards for mortgages on new condominiums, saying they could threaten the viability of some developments and slow the housing-market recovery, the Wall Street Journal said.

The legislators asked the companies to "make appropriate adjustments" to their underwriting standards for condos, the paper added."

What they need to do is disband Freddie and Fannie (and the Federal Reserve while we're at it), let the market set the interest rates and get the government / Fed out of the business of creating boom / bust cycles in our economy. At the very least, the Fed needs to focus on preventing inflation...instead of causing it, then contracting the money supply to combat it. Let the market decide.

Haven't they learned? Barney Frank helped get us into this financial mess by forcing Freddie and Fannie Mae to lower requirements to obtain loans.

"Free" money and easy credit is what got us into this mess and Frank and his democrat cronies had a huge hand in it to begin with. The Fed had a bigger hand, but Frank has culpability galore.

Now he wants to do it again!!!??? Only Massachusetts could keep voting these idiots back into office.

Edward Kennedy, Ed Markey, Gerry Studds (for real), Barney Frank, John Kerry.

It's like a walking freak show!

George Orwell, alive and well

How can you have it both ways?

State that you are going to "create OR save jobs". How can you measure "saved" jobs? You can't.

But here you have Reuters bleating Obama's talking points instead of asking, just how do you measure "saved" jobs?

I guess I'm going to start stating that I "saved" 1,000,000 jobs. This would have just as much credibility as Obama's false promise and funny accounting of "saving" jobs.

Again, media silence.

Can someone make sense of these two sentences from this "story"?

  • "Biden said on May 13 over 150,000 jobs had been saved or created in the act's first 77 days."
  • "The U.S. economy has lost 6.0 million jobs, including 2.9 million this year, since the recession began in December 2007."
So which is it?

The truth is the unemployment rate is up to 9.4%, the highest in 25 years. All under the democrat party's watch. The unemployment rate continues to rise, no matter how many jobs Obama claims to have saved. If he's actually saving jobs, wouldn't the rate go down?

All Reuters can do is a puff piece on Obama supposedly "saving" jobs. George Orwell is alive and well!

This reminds me of the EnviroNazis' change in terminology from "global warming" to "climate change".... you know, so they can always guess right. Their "global warming" bologna quit working when the earth actually started cooling.

Debbie Phillips under fire for supporting higher taxes

Dispatch story here.

"the Fund for Ohio's Future is firing away at Democrats for approving a version of the two-year budget that contained 150 fee hikes."

I love how when we take more money out of people's pockets, it's called a fee hike. I guess it's a way to campaign that you've never voted to increase "taxes", but you voted to take more money from taxpayers. Sounds like a tax increase to me.

".........Democratic-passed budget also cut charter-school funding."

This, of course, surprised no one. Charter schools are generally non-union and are not run by government employees. They are also successful. So, you can see why the democrats would oppose them.

"The ads equate the fees to tax increases by using a 2007 statement by Gov. Ted Strickland, who shortly after taking office said, "I think higher fees are higher taxes."

"These days, Strickland is no longer equating fee increases to tax hikes, and legislative Democrats say there is a distinction between raising fees for certain licenses and raising, say, the income tax rate.

"I know he rues the day he did that," Garland said of Strickland's fee statement.

"They're not a tax. They are applied to the people who are using that service, or it gives them the right to do whatever it is in the state.""

Ted Strickland was right when he (originally) said that fee increases are tax increases. If you increase money taken from tax payers, it's a tax increase, no matter how specific.

""I do believe the government is here as a safety net, and in these times you need that safety net more than ever before," she said."

Of course you do, more money for government, more money to dole out to your union supporters so they can give you more money to campaign with.

"This is not the time for partisan politics," Carney said. "We are supposed to be trying to resolve problems for the state of Ohio. I don't have time to run negative ad campaigns."

Hilarious! The dems are in constant campaign mode. But when a GOP leaning group campaigns it's, of course, outrageous. What's outrageous is the democrat's pension for raising taxes and punishing successful programs.

Don't believe Obama

If you've been hearing this, ("We can't expect relief from the tired old theories that, in eight short years, doubled the national debt, threw our economy into a tailspin, and led us into this mess in the first place," Obama said in his radio address.) this weekend. Remember that Obama is lying. The truth is, it was the dems that forced the banks to make risky loans, which inflated and fueled the housing bubble.

The Republicans saw this coming and tried to stop it.

Public Opinion details the time frame of what went wrong.
2004 hearing where dems say nothing is wrong and the GOP is calling for more regulation.
Bill Clinton saying the dems hampered any regulations on Fannie and Freddie MAC.

You won't hear any of this in the media, they are too busy carrying Obama's deficit creation bill through congress for him.

Michael Steele Becomes First African-American Republican Chairman

Michael Steele Becomes First African-American Republican Chairman

"Also a factor in Steele's victory is the fact that he is an African American, a sign that shows the GOP is ready to change and open it's doors to be more inclusive of minorities."

Don't you love reporters? They can't think for themselves, but they sure can repeat what liberals say about Republicans.

They must have forgotten, Collin Powell, Clarence Thomas, Ken Blackwell, Condi Rice, etc., etc...

And of course the reporter is reporting on Michael Steele who, himself was the first African American elected to statewide office in Maryland...as a Republican.

Reporters don't let little things like facts get in the way of flashy one line zingers in support of the dems.

The media is a democrat protection machine

Pretty amazing story.
  1. A social worker
  2. A former director of Ohio's "Faith-Based Initiatives"
  3. An OSU faculty advisor
All in business together to promote sex for money with under age girls.

One thing that is not surprising is how fast the media de-linked Governor Strickland (democrat) from this story. Eric McFadden, the former director of the Governor's Office of Faith-Based Initiatives until sometime in 2007. He was appointed by Strickland....a democrat.
  1. How many appointees like this still work for our state government because of Strickland?
  2. Where was the "vetting" process?
  3. What ages are the kids this "social worker" works with?
  4. Just what is this faculty advisor advising faculty to do?
  5. Why isn't the media asking these questions?

previous post on this subject.

Democrats say McCain can help mediate standoffs

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081106/ap_on_el_pr/mccain

Um, no thanks John:

  1. If the media thinks it's a good idea, it isn't.
  2. If the dems think it's a good idea, it isn't.
  3. You need to get into the habit of opposing leftists, not negotiating with them.
  4. If you haven't learned by now that cozying up to the left gets you nothing, well...
