Barry Orwell
Orwellian talk is alive and well.
obama says he created OR saved (you can't qualify this, so you can put any number you want after "saved") 1 million jobs.
However, the unemployment rate is the highest it's been in 26 years @ 9.8%. Remember, this 9.8% is just the number of people on unemployment. It does not count those that have "timed out" of our socialist system. Some speculate that the real number of unemployed is around 25%.
So, I can say, with a straight face (since the media is letting barry do it) that I saved 20 jobs yesterday. No, you can't measure it and I can't prove it. However, it sure works when bad unemployment numbers come out and I can use this to deflect some of the criticism....with, of course, the lap dog media.
When the stories should be about verifiable unemployment numbers increasing. The media use barry's spoon fed story about creating or saving jobs as a headline, then put the real story buried deep in this story about unemployment rising. Even Fox News fell for this one.
On another note, how did barry "save" these jobs? Put it in a different but still accurate perspective. What would you think if I stole $25,000 from you and gave it to others (you know, my friends and supporters) and called it "saving" jobs. That's exactly what Charlie Wilson and our mistake in chief has done to you and your kids / grandchildren. We'll be paying for his payoff of his supporters with your money for generations.

Extending the Recession Indefinitely
Mises.org story here
"Subsidize unemployment: Any subsidization of unemployment (via unemployment 'insurance,' relief, etc.) will prolong unemployment indefinitely, and delay the shift of workers to the fields where jobs are available.""

Here come the canned letters to the editors supporting Space
Newark Advocate
This bill is investing more than $100 billion dollars in clean coal technology, thanks in large part to Congressman Space."
Chillicothe Gazette
These are just two. You'd think that they'd at least try to change the form letters and add their own words.
So Zach Space voted to ensure our energy independence and actually help the coal industry? What planet are these people on?
How is voting to increase costs for businesses that use coal going to help the coal industry?
How is increasing our cost of living due to increased electricity rates, higher gas prices...to name a few, a good thing?
What is really going to hammer folks in Ohio and West Virginia the most is the increased electricity costs. Now we can use cheap energy buried directly under us. By increasing the costs to mine and burn coal, our electricity rates will increase. No one knows how much.
Zach Space voted to increase your cost of living and at the same time increase unemployment in his own district by harming a major employer, coal.
Dumb! Just what did Nancy Pelosi promise him to make him vote against his own district's interests?
As for the letter writers telling the world that Zach Space voted for this monstrosity of a bill....please keep it up.
"My congressman, Zack Space, has been particularly hard hit by the criticism for voting "yes" on the American Clean Energy and Security Act, and I think it's unjust.
Chillicothe Gazette
"Once again, Congressman Zack Space has stood up for us by voting for an energy bill that will help begin the process of securing our nation's energy independence.
Space voted for this legislation because it secures a future for Ohio's coal industry. By investing more than $100 billion in clean coal technology, Ohio will be a leader in energy production thanks to our coal industry."These are just two. George Orwell, alive and well
How can you have it both ways?
State that you are going to "create OR save jobs". How can you measure "saved" jobs? You can't.
But here you have Reuters bleating Obama's talking points instead of asking, just how do you measure "saved" jobs?
I guess I'm going to start stating that I "saved" 1,000,000 jobs. This would have just as much credibility as Obama's false promise and funny accounting of "saving" jobs.
Again, media silence.
Can someone make sense of these two sentences from this "story"?
The truth is the unemployment rate is up to 9.4%, the highest in 25 years. All under the democrat party's watch. The unemployment rate continues to rise, no matter how many jobs Obama claims to have saved. If he's actually saving jobs, wouldn't the rate go down?
All Reuters can do is a puff piece on Obama supposedly "saving" jobs. George Orwell is alive and well!
This reminds me of the EnviroNazis' change in terminology from "global warming" to "climate change".... you know, so they can always guess right. Their "global warming" bologna quit working when the earth actually started cooling.

Mr. Strickland, where's your plan?
How long do we have to wait for Governor Strickland to present his "plan" he talked about when he was running for Governor?
“U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland, A Democratic Candidate For Governor, Says His Turnaround Ohio Plan Will Rescue The State's Economy.” The Columbus Dispatch, 2/25/06
We are bleeding population to other states due to Ohio having no jobs....which is due to high corporate income tax rates (ranked 48th in 2006).
Having high personal income taxes also shoves people out of Ohio. (ranked 45th)
Here is a story from the Wall Street Journal comparing Ohio and Texas.
The cause of Ohio's woes are obvious:
It's time to lead, Governor, not beg the feds for a handout.

The cause of Ohio's woes are obvious:
- High corporate income tax rates.
- High personal income tax rates.
- High death taxes.
- Unions sucking the last drop of green from the auto companies, (and the OEA sucking the green out of the taxpayers, for that matter).
- High worker's compensation costs.
- Recently increased minimum wage....which costs jobs.

A depression? Hardly.
You can tell the economy is not as bad as the media and pandering politicians say. If it were, those protesting new jobs would be shouted down. A new plant creating new jobs with almost no emissions, what else do they want?
If the economy were really that bad, there would be folks there asking for jobs.
Marietta Times story
"Members of the Waterford community expressed their concerns Tuesday over a proposed high-purity silicon processing plant planned by Solsil Inc., a sister company of Globe Metallurgical Inc.
"The amount of pollution being put into the air, how do you know how that will affect the quality of life for the people in this area?" asked Linda See, who lives near the site being considered by the company."

Charlie Wilson does not understand economics
Too many comments on this one.
First he votes to raise the minimum wage. If he'd do a little reading, he'd understand this puts people out of work. If employers have to decide if it's more cost effective to buy a machine since they can't afford to hire workers, how does this help those this "raise" is supposed to help? Also, if stores raise their prices because the labor price goes up, who pays? Those that the bill was supposed to have helped. And on top of paying higher prices, now they are out of work.
Which brings me to the next point:
Now he votes to extend unemployment "benefits" (redistribution of wealth). He also voted to do this in May. So how does paying people not to work help our unemployment situation? We should be encouraging folks to work, not paying them not to.
Another dumb idea: Bailout the auto industry. We should let them make the decisions they have to to stay in business. Everyone knows they need to get rid of the greedy union thugs sucking them dry and making our automobiles less competitive than Honda, Nissan, Toyota, etc, who, by the way, do just fine building cars in the US. The only difference is, they are non-union. Giving Detroit taxpayer money would reward bad management and just prolong the inevitable. If they had to fix their business now, they might have a chance. Of course the union backed dems want to continue to receive their campaign contributions from the unions, hence their support of this bailout.
Lastly, Wilson's support of the deceptively labelled "Employee Free Choice Act". See previous post here.
Our Representative knows nothing about economics.................or he does know about economics and doesn't care, just wanting to receive union campaign checks. Either way, he needs to go.
