Merry Christmas not allow in "franked" congressional mail.
I say, SO WHAT? They shouldn't have franking privileges to begin with.
It's a massive waste of money. It's a way to keep their name ID up and help with their reelections.
There is no need for this in the age of emails/internet/facebook/twitter/etc....
My Representative just sent a post card telling us he supports the 2nd amendment. Um....that's his job! He took an oath to uphold the Constitution and the right to bear arms was the 2nd amendment to this Constitution.
Complete waste of tax money. It doesn't matter what party one affiliates himself with....Wilson did this and now Johnson is,.....it's a waste of money.

Comrade Wilson a sore loser?
Link here.
My biggest beef with Comrade Wilson was his spending / voting habits. He voted to spend money when he knew we did not have it....causing us to borrow (issue T-bills) against our children's income.
Normal citizens go to jail when they write bad checks, but not Congressmen.
3 points for future posts:
- Kill the Federal Reserve!!!
- We need to attach our money to some sort of standard (gold, silver, basket of commodities, etc). This way, the politicians, can't print their way out of debt......causing inflation. Decreasing the value of your money (inflation) while paying off debts with the same currency is stealing.
- We need a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. (this one has to be last, because it would be irrelevant if the Fed can just print more money.)

I'm sure Charlie Wilson will support this bill
Here they are trying to increase taxes on homebuilders. Which, of course, means the costs for building houses, or any other construction work, will rise.
Who pays this increase? (I feel the obligation to connect the dots for really slow democrats) The home buyer. So much for democrats wanting affordable housing.
Then we'll put more people out of work, which of course justifies more spending (according to government) because we have an increased (government caused) need.
On another note, this is the first time I've been disappointed with Cordray. I was actually thinking about voting for him (can't vote for RINO DeWine). I hope this isn't a habit of Cordray's, that is, to act like a liberal.
Of course, when / if this bill gets to the house, I'm positive this it is socialist enough for Comrade Charlie Wilson to support.

Garrison Announces Campaign for Secretary of State
Wow. That's what I like about the democrat party. They are all intellectuals....really deep!

Don't be fooled, Space is no moderate...neither is Wilson
Speaking of extremism....what is voting for the cap and tax bill if not extreme. The largest tax increase in US history is moderation?
Space is no moderate and neither is Comrade Wilson.
Apparently they are taking turns pretending to be conservatives. Space voted for the cap and tax bill while Bolshevik Charlie opposed it. Now Wilson supports the health care / taxpayer funding of abortions bill and Space is beating his chest like he's really standing up for his constituents....after the cap and tax vote, of course.
These two are lunatics that don't represent the values of southeastern Ohio.

You Can't Print Production and Prosperity
Mises story here.
"It's hard to imagine that the monetary policy talk can get any nuttier, but we've likely only just begun. After all, despite the Federal Reserve growing its balance sheet by 140 percent and dropping rates essentially to zero, the bankruptcies just keep on coming."

Obama lied, the economy died
(but of course they were there and were used by Hussein on the Kurds, facts and logic are inconvenient things)
Now we have Obama telling us that he was given "incomplete information" when he pushed through his and Charlie Wilson's huge deficit spending wasteful government stimulus package...without giving Congress time to read it...or Congress not demanding time to read it....the latter is more where the blame lies. Here we have the House Majority Leader (a democrat) laughing when asked why congress doesn't read bills before voting on them.
Then we have the morons in the Washington Post already starting to push for more deficit spending while "reporting".
"In light of the latest unemployment figures, there are more persistent questions coming at the administration. Did Obama and his team get it right last winter when they put together their $787 billion stimulus package, or did they undershoot? If they made a mistake, what should they do now?"
Printing $787,000,000,000 out of thin air is an "undershoot"? The soon to come massive inflation and high interest rates will make this recession look like the good old days. Obama and Carter area a lot alike.
The democrats are talking about financing our future even more by borrowing more money to spend! Of course, the media is stoking the fires as well.
Borrowing and spending money that we didn't have caused this mess. Now we think borrowing and spending will get us out? Only government could come to this conclusion.

Thank Charlie Wilson for a "courageous vote"? Give me a break!
Here's one from American Solutions....whom I agree with most of the time.
This time they want us to "thank" our Congressman Charlie Wilson for his "courageous vote".
Isn't this akin to thanking someone for stopping at a stop light? His no vote is an expectation, not a "courageous vote".
First of all, how is it "courageous" to vote for the best interests of your district? I thought that was part of the job description.
While we acknowledged Wilson's no vote here, and it was the correct vote.....Charlie Wilson has voted the wrong way multiple times, voting to increase our debt exponentially is his worst trait.....then watching him take that funny money while traveling the district, tossing it around like...well a politician buying votes, is sickening.
So, American Solutions, don't expect a letter to the editor from me.
Zach Space is a different matter. This guy can't even vote against this one job killing, electric rate hiking bill that directly negatively impacts the residents in his district.
Both of these gentlemen need a new line of work, Zach Space should look for work outside his district. He should not compete with the rest of us for the declining number of jobs in his district after he voted to kill many, many jobs.
"Even though the National Energy Tax narrowly passed the House 219-212, your member of Congress, Charles A. Wilson courageously voted "no" against this job-killing bill. In fact, he was one of 44 Democrats who voted "no."
Let's send a loud message to Congressman Wilson and thank him for standing up for his constituents and not caving in to Speaker Pelosi and the left-wing special interests.
Here's his phone number to call and thank him: 740-376-0868.
After you give him a call, please write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper to help spread the word about Congressman Wilson's courageous vote. When Congressman Wilson makes a principled vote, he needs to hear from his constituents that they support his decision.
Click here for some talking points to help you craft your thank you letter to the editor.
Thank you for making your voice heard.
Sincerely,
Dan Varroney
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Congressman Charlie Wilson's Debt Clock
He's had a hand in the increasing national debt by voting for and supporting all of President Obama's spending sprees.
Charlie Wilson is no conservative.
Thursday, April 2, 2009
Which budget do you think Congressman Charlie Wilson will vote for?
or the only conservative alternative:
The House Republican Budget that would Confront Hard Choices and Rein in Budget Deficits.
Charlie Wilson has voted for all of Obama's deficit spending and debt increasing bills. He has a real alternative this time. I'll bet he follows the strange logic of voting to borrow ourselves out of debt again.
I noticed that Charlie Wilson's website no longer has the "debt clock" on it. I'd have taken it off if I were him also, as he had a lot to do with why it's climbing about $1,000,000 per minute!
I did notice a link to the "blue dog conservative democrat" website on his site. (If Charlie Wilson is a conservative, Ronald Reagan was a Marxist) On their site they still have the debt clock. Be sure and look at it adding up all the time and remember that Charlie Wilson voted for every deficit spending bill President Obama has proposed yet.
There's no reason to believe he'll vote against this massive spending bill either.

When you can tell the dems have control of the Ohio House
""Although the sponsors of this bill have expressed the intent to rescue homeowners who are currently in foreclosure or risk thereof, it is clearly unconstitutional to interfere with existing mortgage agreements in Ohio," Thompson said. "Any provision authorizing Common Pleas judges or the Ohio Department of Commerce to modify existing mortgage contracts will be stricken from HB 3 upon legal challenge. This will not only negate assistance for current homeowners, but it will leave the statute applying only to prospective mortgage contracts."
"As applied to these prospective mortgages, HB 3 would clearly raise interest rates for prospective homeowners, thus harming more Ohioans than it would help, and enhancing the likelihood of increased delinquencies," Thompson added.
Specifically, HB 3 empowers Common Pleas judges to reduce the principal amount and/or interest rate of the loan. In addition, the measure empowers the Ohio Department of Commerce to"
- Reduce the interest rate on a home loan;
- Extend the period over which a homeowner may repay a home loan;
- Defer the amount of principal due on a home loan;
- Reduce the principal due on a home loan; and
- Utilize "other factors that the director determines are appropriate."
If this isn't a lesson on intentions vs consequences I don't know what is. Marxists are known for having perceived good intentions (I don't think they do, but they, at least try to sell the good intentions) but the results are catastrophic.
Letting people renegotiate the principal on their mortgages? Apparently, all of us that pay our bills on time and have either paid down our mortgages or paid them off, have been doing it the wrong way.
So, we should have gotten behind in our payments, by getting ourselves into debt that we never could afford to repay....hoping the housing market would continue to go up and we could sell our house if we ever needed to for a higher price than what we paid for it.
It is fundamentally bad for a civil society to let people break their contracts whenever they have found themselves in a (usually self imposed) predicament.
Now, those of us that follow our contractual obligations, will have to pay to bailout those that don't follow theirs.
Seems fair in a government think sort of way. Sort of like Congressman Charlie Wilson is acting right now. Borrow ourselves out of debt!? Make the taxpayers pick up the tab because our Congress doesn't do their collective jobs by putting the halt to the Marxist in the White House and tell him NO when he wants to put our kids and grandchildren into debt.
Looks like Congressman Charlie Wilson is too happy to get a few table scraps to bring back to the district to help him get re-elected than doing his job by keeping our country solvent.

Congressman Charlie Wilson tries to change the subject
Salem News story
""When I voted for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in February, I knew it was a large and imperfect bill and that it would likely contain some mistakes."
But he voted for it anyway, unbelievable!

Charlie Wilson's Red Herring
I'd love to post on other items, but Congressman Charlie Wilson won't stop acting like a socialist for even one day.
First he votes to allow AIG type bonuses, then he says he's outraged at the actual bonuses when they happen, then he submits a bill to stop companies from "significantly increase salaries rather than have to deal with scrutiny of bonuses."
He's definitely against these bonuses now that everyone knows he voted to allow them in the first place.
So, apparently, Charlie Wilson would rather a Wal-Mart greeter run this country's largest insurance company than people that are trained and experienced in it.
The taxpayers have 80% (that's what I've read in the media, so take that for what it's worth) stake in AIG now. Why in the world wouldn't the taxpayer want the best to run a business we have such a huge stake in? We won't have the best and the brightest if we keep cutting their pay. (yes, taking bonuses from people that earned them is cutting their pay) We'll have a third string government team running this show and you know how that will end. The same folks that ran the Social Security fund bankrupt when they had a guaranteed incoming flow of confiscated cash from workers. Now we think the government will run AIG better than that?
On a slightly different note:
What is it with conservatives? Are they also falling for the Bolshevik trap of class envy?
Who cares if someone makes more money than you? Do you think if the government caps what others makes, you'll somehow get a pay raise? It doesn't work like that.
Also, who gets to make the decision of how much is OK to earn? If we start down this socialist path, where does it stop?
If you make 40k a year, there are folks that make 20k / year. What makes you so much better that you make 2X what someone else does?
In Bolshevik class warfare, the only winners are the government.
Charlie Wilson is leading us in this direction, he needs to go.

Wilson no "blue dog"
These Trotskyites think Congressman Charlie Wilson is a "conservative" democrat!
I guess it's OK to let them waste their time having people call his office and asking him to support the socialist in chief's agenda.
Here's a little secret. He's no conservative. He has voted for all Obama's deficit spending bills.

Wilson votes to allow AIG type bonuses
Either:
He read the stimulus bill that allowed these AIG type of bonuses, and voted for it anyway
Or
He did not read the bill before he voted on it.
(Both or either are good reasons why he does not need to be our representative.)
He voted for the stimulus bill which allowed AIG to give bonuses to employees.
I don't have near the concern over these bonuses as some (previous post) however, it's hypocritical of Charlie Wilson to criticize AIG for doing exactly what he voted to allow them to do.
Class envy Bolshevik / AIG style
Thoughts on this:
- These employees were offered bonuses last year, before AIG took tax money.
- AIG was contractually obligated to pay.
- How much money would the tax payers have to pay to fight lawsuits when AIG did not follow through with their commitments to pay these bonuses?
- The media is stoking class envy.
- Charlie Wilson is stoking class envy.
- Republicans are stoking class envy for political gain.
- So are the dems.
- Christopher Dodd got us into this mess to begin with with his desire for less regulation on Freddie / Fannie Mae.
- Christopher Dodd lied (again) about not putting wording in the conference bill to allow these bonuses to proceed.
- Dodd admits he inserted this wording, a day after he said he didn't.
- Obama and his administration requested Dodd insert this wording so lawsuits would be avoided.
- Obama used much hubris and anger about these bonuses, when he not only previously knew about them, but had Dodd actually insert the wording in the bill to allow it to happen!
- I would have gained much respect for Obama (starting at none) if he would have manned up and said he requested this wording and here are the reasons. No such luck. Mr. Bush would have been honest, to heck with the poll numbers.
- Where's the media? This lays at Obama's feet and he's (today) talking about immigration reform? The media have been neutered.
- Are we so dumb to forget history when it comes to stoked class hatred? Remember Russia in 1917? Remember the Cultural Revolution in China? Cambodia? All started because someone had more "stuff" than someone else.
- Are the 10 Commandments no longer relevant? "Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's."
- Lastly, again using Lenin's quote about the media:
"The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses." Vladimir Lenin
