NRA dumb endorsements

Like I've said in the past, the NRA loses credibility when it does not look at the big picture with it's endorsements.

Just got a post card and my "American Rifleman" magazine from the NRA.

The Rob Portman and Ted Strickland endorsements make sense. However, the Charlie Wilson endorsement does not.

Portman is running against one of the biggest anti-gun democrat ever. Lee Fisher was actually on Handgun Control Inc's board.

Strickland is and has been pro-gun since his first stint in Congress. He has not changed his position. Kasich voted to ban semi-automatic guns. so, this endorsement also makes sense.

The Charlie Wilson endorsement is the one I have an issue with. Yes, Charlie has not voted to restrict our 2nd amendment rights. However, he does vote for and support other democrats that do. For instance, he votes to have Nancy Pelosi as the Speaker of the House. She is an anti-gun freak from San Fransisco. How is that helping the NRA's mission?

Bill Johnson (running against Wilson) is also pro-gun. There should be no endorsement in this race. The policy of supporting and campaigning for pro-gun incumbents, against other pro-gun candidates is a waste of time and is surely a waste of money. Since, in these cases, no matter who wins, the NRA gets a gun friendly congressman.

Liberals' view of self defense in a nut shell

I've never heard it said by a liberal in such an open and honest manner.

"In his dissenting judgment, Breyer said there was no consensus over a fundamental right to self-defence. "The historical evidence is, at most, ambiguous.""

These people really do believe that you have no right to self defense.

Thanks to President Bush (via his legacy, Supreme Court Justice nominees) the Supreme Court decided that we actually do have a right to self defense.

"In their majority opinion, the five conservative supreme court judges, led by Justice Samuel Alito, said that the Chicago handgun ban was unconstitutional because it breached the right of the individual to own guns in his or her own home. "Self-defence is a basic right, recognised by many legal systems from ancient times to the present, and individual self-defence is the central component of the Second Amendment", the opinion says."

On a side note, how far have we digressed that we actually have to have an argument like this?

Didn't we fight the British to prove that these rights were not given by the government (which can take them away) but were God given?....meaning, of course, the government can't take them away.

Is the Ohio GOP going to blow another one?

Are they going to force Mike DeWine on us? Especially when we have a great candidate in Dave Yost?

Yes, the same Mike DeWine that is anti-gun. Do the establishment GOP think we are so stupid that we can't read the American Rifleman and see that the NRA will endorse Richard Cordray....especially if running against DeWine? Is the establishment GOP dumb enough to think that we'll just vote for DeWine because he's a Republican (RINO)? I believe they are and I don't think we will.

If it's DeWine vs. Cordray, Cordray wins......unless it's 1994 all over again. I just don't see pro-gun voters voting for a pretend Repbulican when they have a pro-gun candidate to vote for.

All of this is why it's important that Dave Yost raises money. The GOP in Columbus wants Dave out and Mike in. Yes, it's a wonder they win any elections.

Dave Yost is pro-gun, pro-life and pro-death penalty. Sounds like a great attorney general candidate to me!

Dave is having a fund-raiser in Athens here's the invitation. If you can't make it, you can donate to a conservative candidate in Dave Yost. See below.

Dear Friends,

We sense a growing enthusiasm that our Republican Party is poised for a strong comeback in next year’s elections. People like the idea of a "Fresh Start" statewide ticket, and we fully expect Dave Yost to be part of it.

Dave Yost is in his third term as Prosecutor in Delaware County, just north of Columbus. In the race for Attorney General, Dave has already visited over 70 counties this year.

Dave’s campaign is about returning the Attorney General’s office back to the basics of law and order. The race for Ohio’s top law enforcement job is all about justice for Ohio families. As a working prosecutor, Dave’s record demonstrates that he knows how to get the job done.

Please join us as we welcome Dave on October 13th to our home. Details are as follows:

NRA and their ill conceived endorsements

Who wants to wager that the NRA will endorse Zach Space for Congress in 2010?

What always gets me about the NRA and their short sighted endorsements is this:

Look at who Zach Space endorses and supports, Lee Fisher. Sarah Brady's evil twin, the most anti-gun politician Ohio has ever had.

Yet the NRA can't stop loving on this guy. Seems like they are missing the big picture here....same with Comrade Charlie Wilson.

The Huffington Post gets a little huffy when it comes to Jennifer Garrison.

Comrade Charlie endorses Fisher for Senate

Regarding Wilson’s support, Fisher said: “Congressman Wilson and I have worked together to revitalize the economy of eastern Ohio, and I am grateful for his endorsement.”

Right, we don't need any more of your "revitalization". What we need are jobs, not words, higher inflation and more spending.

A point to the NRA and their endorsements of Comrade Wilson, here he is endorsing one of the most anti-gun politicians in the nation, are you still going to support him? Look at who he supports!

Kasich's running mate

Since John Kasich does not have the perfect past when it comes to the 2nd Amendment, one would think that he has to name a strong pro-gun / freedom running mate.

previous post

This is desperately needed due to Strickland's good NRA rating.

Also, it's a mistake to think that ignoring the assault weapons ban vote in Kasich's past and counting on Strickland's current unpopularity to carry the day for the next GOP Governorship.

This one anti-gun vote needs talked about now, not swept under the rug. Because if it's not dealt with now, it'll be dealt with during a general election.

One thing Kasich can do to make gun owners feel reassured is by naming a pro-gun Lieutenant Governor candidate...one with a known and verifiable voting record.
