"Though this war has been going on for almost a decade, this is the first time we will be investing the resources needed to finally eradicate the very real terrorist threats in the region."
Congressman Charlie Wilson, 12/2/09
So, we haven't been giving enough resources to Afghanistan in the past? This is the first time I've heard him say this. Why wasn't he using his influence to change this perceived policy failure? Why is he just now realizing this? Comrade Wilson has been in Congress since 2006 and this is the first time he's discovered this fantasy? Why wasn't he pushing for more troops in Afghanistan in the past? Or is it no more than he's reading the obama talking points that were handed to him? That's probably more like it.

Wilson Issues Statement Following President's Afghanistan Address
After listening to the President outline his plan for Afghanistan, Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) made the following statement:
"I support the President’s strategy as we move forward with the War in Afghanistan. I trust our Commander in Chief, General McChrystal and our military professionals out in the field. If they need additional support, I feel it is our duty to provide our soldiers with the tools they need to stay safe and achieve success. I believe the President outlined an effective strategy to stabilize Afghanistan and set a reasonable timeline to get our troops back home. No doubt our tactics will adjust as conditions change, but the President’s speech underlined the continued danger of an unstable Afghanistan. Though this war has been going on for almost a decade, this is the first time we will be investing the resources needed to finally eradicate the very real terrorist threats in the region. I feel confident that this strategy was made with our nation’s long-term security in mind."
