Wheeling Intelligencer story.
"He said it was among the goals of the local tea party that U.S. Rep. Alan Mollohan and U.S. senators Robert Byrd and Jay Rockefeller, all D-W.Va., "collectively listen to us."
Some in the crowd added, "and Charlie Wilson, too," referring to the Democratic congressman who represents the district on the Ohio side of the river."
"In Wheeling, nearly 2,000 residents turned out at the city's Heritage Port for the "Tax Day Tea Party," one of more than 2,000 such events that took place nationwide.""They feel like they can play God and run a company when none of them has had to make a payroll," he added."
"Many in attendance made note of what they termed "irresponsible spending" by the federal government, and they believed many of their elected officials don't read the spending bills of which they vote in favor."
"This was the case in particular with the $787 billion bank bailout, as members of Congress admitted after its passage that they had not read the bill."
And my favorite quote from the story:
"I think government thinks we're a Robin Hood society where you rob the rich to feed the poor," she said. "But who are the rich? The government thinks we are."
Charlie Wilson is in so deep in this bailout / stimulus / omnibus / budget bill etc, etc...all he can do now is travel around the district throwing your money around like Robin in the Hood.
According to the Marietta Times, "
"WILSON PLANS ARMORY ANNOUNCEMENT THURSDAY:
Congressman Charlie Wilson, D-Ohio, plans a major announcement Thursday about the Marietta National Guard Armory and federal transit funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The announcement is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wilson's local office at 258 Front St., across the street from the armory."
If these folks want to protest, they need to show up at this announcement and protest. Here's our representative that has voted for every deficit spending bill Obama has asked for.
Charlie Wilson is boasting of a "major announcement" upcoming in Marietta. We all know he's going to waste more of our tax money by throwing it at the old armory building by trying to transform it into some sort of new utopia on the Muskingum....using your tax money of course.
Here's the previous post about the armory plans.
The Marietta Times got one thing right, even if it was by accident. Notice how they put Charlie Pork Belly Wilson's "announcement...announcement directly under the story about the tax protesters?
